Eco-Schools is one of the main activities of GYE. It is a training course for students of primary school's of Prishtina. The students get trained about ecology, environment and many other ecological/environmental issues. Except environment and its issues on the EcoSchools are discussed many other themes such as drug abuse, children and human rights and educational system. For more information try EcoSchool page.

February 2002 – March 2004
KYE's newest campaign is called "E di se mundesh!!!" (I know you can do it). The campaign goal is raising awareness on materials that can be reused and recycled. During the campaign there will be a documentary movie developed and than shown all around Kosova periodically. It is founded by REC, field office Kosova.

September/October 2002
Group of Young Ecologists together with REC, has organized a campaign to raise awareness on materials that can be recycled and reused and also publicize the Center for Aluminium and Paper Collection.

July 2002
GYE made a small city from recycled and reused materials. The city somehow showed people that garbage's can be reused for many things including art in here. This was founded by REC.

May - August 2002
Group of Young Ecologists together with Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe - field office Kosova, has opened a centre for aluminum collection in Prishtina. After a time the center was closed but now it is reopened and it is managed by a recycling company in Prishtina. Except aluminum now the center collects also paper.

GYE has organized a seminar with young people to discuss environmental issues and also hear the youth opinions about environmental managing system in Kosova.

February/March 2001
GYE has organized trips from Prishtina to Ferizaj in order to meet and create friendships between Kosovar youth and young refugees from Macedonia. This activity was self/founded.

1 December 2000
As we mentioned before 1st of December is International Day Against AIDS and for this day we have organized seminar for young people. There where around 40 participants, not including old people.

23 August 2000
Other project that has been financed has to do with getting closer with Macedonian children. This project we started on 21 August 2000 and it has been finished on 31 August of the same year. This project has been successfully finished and completely supported by KFOS (Kosova Fund for Open Society).

5 June 2000 (Environment Day)
Our next project that has been finished has to do with cleaning and greening also, but this time it's in the best place of Str. Ulpiana in Prishtina. This place hasn't been worked for 10 (ten) years. It's in the middle of the skyscrapers, in the area called "Ulpiana". People call this place where we worked "Fountain' because there's a fountain, which is not working since 1993. This activity started on 5th of June 2000 and it's finished for three weeks so it's finished on 19th of June 2000. Our activity was shown in too many magazines like in: "Koha Ditore", "Rilindja" and Department of Youth took us in one meeting where they told us that your action was one of the most successful actions in Prishtina. This activity was financed by Canadian Cooperation and Intersos (Humanitarian Organization for Emergency).

16 January 2000 till 28 January 2000
In these days five members from our organization visited all kindergartens in Prishtina. In kindergartens we talked with children 5-7 years old about the environment in Kosova (what do they think, is our environment polluted or clean and healthy etc.). In the end of the conversation we gave to every child a coloring book as a present. This was sort of ecological education in which we had success. This was financed by UNICEF.

22 April 2000 (Earth Day)
Our next activity has to do with greening and cleaning the primary school "Hasan Prishtina" in Prishtina. This project started on 22nd of April and it is finished in 2nd of September. First we have cleaned the garden of school and than we have planted many trees and flowers which made the school beautiful. This activity was shown in some newspapers, on TV as well. In this project we got help from pupils of the school… they helped us in planting and cleaning. This project is completely financed by KCSF (Kosova Civil Society Foundation).

December 1999
Another project that is realized is project for celebrating of Christmas and the New Year. For these days we put Christmas tree 7-8m long in center of Prishtina (we took license for cutting the tree from UNMIK). From Evangelistic Church till UNMIK HQ we organized a parade where two members wore clowns' clothes and behind them were five Santa Clauses, also members from our organization. The parade last one hour. Then (after parade) children's from primary school "Elena Gjika" sang some songs for the children and mothers which were there. During this we gave away 800 presents to the children of Prishtina. For this project helped us UNMIK, UNICEF, Evangelistic church, UNWHO and SDC.

December 1, 1999
Another project was realized for National Day Against AIDS. We organized a parade where five members of our organization wore costumes that looked like condoms. Behind them were members from of our organization with more than 40 other citizens of Prishtina, holding signs with slogans against AIDS. During this day we gave away 1000 condoms to the citizens of Prishtina. For this project helped us WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA.

November 20, 1999
We staged an art exhibition in OSCE HQ building, in ninth flour in restaurant "Pëllumbi." This exhibition is organized by four youth groups. Our organization was presented there with 40 pictures, which were painted by three members of our organization. This exhibition length three weeks.

SEPT 13-23rd 1999
As an organization we took a part on festival with motto "Freedom, I won't let you down." There we did ecological things. First we cleaned all the places where the festival would be held. Then we built a small city from recycled materials opposite of the National Theatre in the center of Prishtina. With that we tried to tell to people that we can use garbage for many things. Our work was supported from many organizations, like: UNICEF, USAID, DFID, KFOS....

Sept 1999
We printed small posters (letter A4, without color, 60 copies) were wore written ecological advises. Title of these posters was "Let's save our environment." UNICEF supported us in this work.

1998
We have our monthly magazine called "Ekologjia" (the ecology), and we did the first edition of it. First edition was published before the war and it was supported by Kosova Fund for Open Society (KFOS), SOROS foundation. There we had articles for maintaining the environment, how to care about the water, something about waste etc. It was 24 pages and it had 80 percent ecological articles and 20 percent articles for amusement for youths. This issue will is available on the website. Now we are trying to publish second edition but we are facing with many problems like lack of an office, computers and many other things that are needed for publishing of one magazine.

Pre-1999
We done some small activities before the war too, in the time when we cooperated with former Club for Open Society, for e.g.: we made a trip in a National Park and Germia mountain where we took pictures and then held an exhibition in were were published pictures from the trip. We also made a perfect garden full of grass, trees, flowers and some other things in Club for Open Society. We held debates like "Polluted air or garbage destroy more the environment" etc.

Group of Young Ecologists has organized some advocacy campaigns against some environmental problems in Kosova like: Powerplant Kosova A - biggest air pollutant, depleted uranium during the war. GYE has also advocated on activating smog test during the car registering. Click here to see the letter sent to ex-UN Special Representative of the Secretary General in Kosova - Dr. Bernard Kouchner for the Kosova B powerplant problem.
